DENVER - A man suspected in the hit-and-run death of an 11-year-old boy in Denver is facing possible charges of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

Oswaldo Lopez, 21, appeared in court Tuesday and was advised of the possible charges, both felonies, in Michael Espinoza's death.

Police say Lopez's license plate and pieces of his car were found on a busy street where Michael Espinoza was struck Sunday night. A police report says Lopez was driving 60 mph when he hit the fifth-grader as he was crossing the street.

The boy's family says he was walking home from a Denny's restaurant with a cousin.

A candlelight vigil is planned for Tuesday evening near the scene of the hit-and-run.
