KUSA - There will be a lot of change in Eric Decker's life this offseason. He and his wife - country music singer Jesse James - are expecting their first child and he could also find himself catching passes from someone other than Peyton Manning.
Decker will likely get a bigger offer during free agency from a team other than the Broncos so he will have to consider all the factors before making a decision.
"The best offer to me isn't about the most money," the wide receiver asserted on Sirius XM NFL radio Tuesday. "For me, it's am I going to have fun going to work every day. That doesn't add up to any dollar amount, that's priceless."
He caught 87 passes for 1,288 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. And while Decker's success is at least due in part to the quarterback throwing him the ball, his main priority in choosing a place to play football is his family and their happiness.
"For me, it's even more difficult because I want to have her be comfortable," Decker said of his wife and the new addition they are looking forward to having in their family. "Those are the added stresses to this process."
Decker claims the Broncos have yet to reach out to him in any preliminary conversations about his future. He admitted he has also found himself naturally letting his mind wander to the projections and possibilities of playing for another team in the NFL.
"There are a lot of things for me that will make me feel comfortable," he conceded. As one of most highly sought after free agents in the upcoming market - teams can officially sign players beginning on March 11 - Decker will have options. The organization, head coach, offensive system, quarterback and locker room feel will be variables he must consider wholeheartedly.
"I think Denver has done that right so I think that decision will be a topic for me to go out and feel what the best situation is overall," Decker continued.
There is a scenario that Decker will find himself as one of Manning's favorite targets once again next year, but it's far from the only one.
