SOCHI, Russia - Four years of work in the gym paid off after Colorado snowboarder Alex Deibold won bronze in the Olympics.
"In between, when the world isn't watching, is really hard. There's a lot of sacrifice. And to win a medal makes all that sacrifice worth it," said Deibold.
At the Olympics in 2010, Deibold was waxing gear. In 2014, he was winning gear.
Winning the third place spot has seen some bigger names in winter sports scoff, but not Deibold.
"It's not something you come by very often," said Deibold.
He's happier with a little bronze to go along with a golden Olympic experience.
"For those guys to come out and cheer for me and have excitement on their faces isn't something I can begin to describe," said Deibold.
