ENGLEWOOD - On Wednesday at 2:05 p.m., Englewood Police responded to the 3100 block South Platte River on report of a possible body in the South Platte River.

Upon arriving in the area, officers contacted a man and his grandchildren who advised they were riding their bicycles along the Mary Carter Greenway Trail, which runs along the South Platte River, when they observed what they thought was a body in the middle of the river hung up on some debris and rocks.

When officers checked the area they located a 38-year-old man deceased in the river.

An Arapahoe County Coroner's Investigator responded to assist Englewood Police Detectives with the investigation.

The deceased man was taken to the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office for further investigation.
