DENVER - Summer camps aren't cheap. They can range anywhere from $150 a week to $700 a week, depending on what kind of camp you are looking for.

In 9NEWS' edition of Summer Camp 101, here are some tips the help ease that burden.

  1. Talk with the camp's director about scholarships or other financial aid. For example, some sports camps hold tryouts for scholarships.
  2. Find out if you can use the federal tax credit for child care expenses. Up to 35 percent of your costs may qualify. However, there is a cap of $3,000 per child.
  3. Ask your employer if they offer a flexible spending account for dependent care. You can decide how much pre-tax money you want deducted from your paycheck for child care costs. There is a limit and it varies from company to company.
