CENTENNIAL - The annual Special Olympics Colorado Winter Games opened Saturday with figure skating and speed skating championships at the South Suburban Ice Arena in Centennial.

The two-day Winter Games continues tomorrow with alpine skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and cross country skiing at Copper Mountain.

The SOCO Winter Games are celebrating their 25th anniversary hosting the Winter Games at Copper Mountain.

Competitions will run from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Six athletes and one coach from Colorado went to last year's World Winter Games.

The Special Olympics World Winter Games are played every four years, the previous played last year in South Korea.
