KUSA- Ty Lawson will return to the Pepsi Center court Monday night against the Timberwolves after sitting out the past nine games because of a rib injury.

"I'm going to try to give it a go to see what I can do out there," Lawson said after practice Monday.

Healing the injured rib has been a difficult process, but the hardest part of sitting out has been watching his team struggle.

"Just not being out there helping my teammates seeing them struggle a little bit, there's nothing I can do and that's the hardest part that I couldn't do anything to help them," Lawson continued.

His teammates and head coach are thrilled that Lawson is returning to their team which has lost five straight games and is 1-10 the last eleven.

"It's nice man. Ty is our best player, he's our leader, he creates a lot of things for us so it's great that he can be back in the starting lineup tonight," Evan Fournier said about Lawson's return.

Head coach Brian Shaw is happy to have Lawson available.\

"I'm sure he'll be a little rusty because he still hasn't done any contact," Shaw said. "Having that speed out there and their floor leader hopefully will inject some positivity and some energy that we sorely need."

Shaw said Lawson will start the game and will let him gauge his own playing time based on his wind.

"He said to me that if we need him to go 48 (minutes) he could go 48, but that's just him talking," Shaw said with a smile.
