DENVER - Site work on the now-closed Burger King that stood at 600 Broadway for more than 27 years starts this week on a new FirstBank branch, the bank's director of real estate said Monday.
FirstBank plans a 5,500-square-foot branch bank building on Sixth Avenue and Broadway, with an adjacent 3,000-square-foot retail building to the north on the triangular piece of land that's above Cherry Creek and the trail there next to Speer Boulevard, said Dave Cicchinelli, senior vice president and First Bank's director of real estate.
"We're shooting for a Sept. 1 opening," said Cicchinelli. "This will just be a wonderful improvement to that corner. It's a high-profile location, has high traffic counts and is in a great demographic area."
The restaurant closed Feb 28.
FirstBank brought the property for $3 million in September, and deeded a strip of right-of-way land to the City of Denver along 6th Avenue, Assessor's records show.
