DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - DaVita HealthCare Partners rocketed up 81 spots on this year's Fortune 500 list, which was released Monday.
The Denver-based kidney dialysis company (NYSE: DVA) now sits at No. 230 on the Fortune 500, which is ranked by total revenue. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is at the head of the ranking with $476 billion in revenue.
DaVita, which was No. 311 on the 2013 list, saw its revenue climb by 42 percent over the past year, to $12 billion.
Colorado has nine companies on the Fortune 500. Liberty Global, a Douglas County-based company controlled by John Malone, ranked No. 256 last year but doesn't appear on the 2014 list.
Newmont Mining Co., which ranked No. 270 in 2013, fell to No. 327 on this year's list as the company's revenue fell 15.7 percent to $8.3 billion. Fortune said only two other companies on the Fortune 500 had a bigger decline in its stock price.
