DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Ongoing construction has claimed another retail victim in the Cherry Creek North neighborhood.

Little Me's, a children's clothing boutique at 3000 E. Third Ave., shut down on Sunday after the annual Cherry Creek North Sidewalk Sale.

Owner Jennifer Riches posted a letter in the long-operating store's window stating that the construction that has made it difficult to access the popular shopping district has taken too much of a toll on her store — and, she believes, others in the area.

"I knew I would face many challenges in this venture, but in the twenty years that I have been shopping in Cherry Creek North, lack of foot traffic was not one that I had anticipated," Riches wrote. "It appears the construction is only going to move closer to our area and we simply cannot make it through another season like the last."

Riches was one of a number of merchants who have t old the Denver Business Journal over the past month that the lane and road closures made to accommodate building construction and storm-sewage repairs have strangled out customers who no longer want to fight traffic backups to come into the area.
