DENVER - Keep Edgewater Beautiful and Keep Denver Beautiful programs brought students together for a litter cleanup along Sheridan Boulevard on Monday.

This project hoped to teach students about the source of litter, its effect on a community and how to prevent it.

While picking up commonly littered items such as soda cans, candy wrappers and paper, volunteers were asked if they can recall littering similar items and make that connection between their actions and the problem they are now addressing.

The cleanup started at 10 a.m. at the northwest corner of 20th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard.

Then, students headed to their respective sides of Sheridan Boulevard to clean up litter.
