THORNTON - Police have a suspect in custody wanted in connection to a fatal auto-pedestrian crash Thursday night in Thornton.
The driver has been identified as Dannel Bond Kimble..
The incident happened just before 10 p.m. Thursday night on the 9800 block of Race Street and 98th Street in Thornton.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial call came in as a hit-and-run, and witnesses said the victim had been lying motionless in the street just prior to being allegedly struck by an elderly woman.
She stopped, was interviewed and later released without any charges filed.
Additional information yesterday revealed the victim had first been struck by a 1995 Chevrolet cargo van allegedly driven by Kimble.
Police say Kimble was the first of the two drivers to hit the pedestrian, but he did not stop.
Police believe Kimble, 26, is homeless.
He is being charged with vehicular homicide.
Police have not released the victim's name.
