DENVER – A 14-year-old girl was shot in the arm by her neighbor Sunday night while she was playing in the backyard, according to the victim's grandmother.
Police can only confirm that a minor was shot in the arm, and the shooting happened at around 8:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Rosemary, near 11th Avenue and Quebec Street. A female suspect is in custody.
"[The neighbor] just came up the stairs and shot one of the kids in the arm," Wanda Lott, the victim's grandmother, told 9NEWS.
The suspect's daughter told reporters at the scene that the victim and her siblings started the whole thing by picking on her.
A neighbor said people were arguing just before the shooting happened.
"I saw the girl that got shot come out crying and stuff, and the families were arguing," witness Thai Lay said.
The victim's injuries were not life-threatening, according to Denver Police. Police could not confirm additional information about the victim or the shooter.

"I am a little shaken up because I hear my children crying over the telephone, and I hear them shouting and screaming and everything," Lott said. "My daughter said my grandson is traumatized."
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, and she is expected to be OK.
**A previous version of this web story reported the teen to be a 15-year-old, not a 14-year-old. This was corrected once police clarified the girl's age.**
