LITTLETON – Police have identified a 32-year-old suspect in a shooting that left a 55-year-old man dead after he was shot in the chest.

The shooting happened at around 8 p.m. Wednesday during an altercation at a home in the 500 block of West Peakview Avenue – northwest of Arapahoe Road and South Broadway. Police say the victim and the suspect knew each other.

The suspect, identified as Joshua Hoppe, was seen running away from the scene. He is described as a white man who is 5'10" and 200 pounds with multiple tattoos. Police say he was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black, long-sleeved shirt. His whereabouts are unknown.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for first degree homicide for Hoppe.

Littleton Adventist Hospital was on lockdown Wednesday night due to the police activity in the area after the shooting.
