DENVER- The cost of tuition at The University of Colorado is about to go up, but not as much as in past years.

The University of Colorado's Board of Regents is scheduled to vote on a system-wide budget Friday.

The board meeting is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.

The board will set tuition rates for the next academic year.

The Regents were presented with a proposal in February to increase tuition on the Boulder campus by either 3.5 percent or 4.1 percent.

Last year, University of Colorado Regents approved an 8.7 percent in state tuition hike on the Boulder campus.

Tuition for undergrad students is now $8,760.

Out-of-state tuition for undergraduates is $30,538.

Over the last seven years, tuition increases in Boulder have averaged almost 10 percent

School officials say the smaller increase this year is because of more state funding.
