KUSA - Senate Democrats told 9Wants To Know Reporter Chris Vanderveen they plan to introduce a bill as early as Thursday evening that extends the statute of limitations on deadly hit-and-run wrecks.
Currently, the statute of limitations is five years. The bill Senate Democrats plan to introduce will extend that statute to 10 years.
The bill will not address hit-and-runs involving serious bodily injury. That currently statute of limitations is three years.
This proposed bill follows a series of reports from 9NEWS regarding the hit-and-run epidemic in Colorado.
