DENVER - There was a drive-by shooting at the Denver County Jail Tuesday night. No one got hurt.

Captain Frank Gale, spokesman for the sheriff's office, says the shooting took place Tuesday evening around 9 p.m.

"There were some members of the Denver Sheriff's Department who were performing functions outside of the building at the time, but not where the shooting took place," Gale told 9NEWS Crime and Justice Reporter Anastasiya Bolton.

Gale says the vehicle was traveling at high rate of speed on Smith Road. Several shots were fired at the building. The matter was reported to Denver Police for investigation.

Gale, who's been with the department for 23 years, says he's not aware of anything like this happening before.
