STEAMBOAT SPRINGS - A court document says a northern Colorado woman shot her 9-year-old son five times. Hewas found dead in the family home Wednesday morning.

Lisa Marie Lesyshen has been arrested on charges of first-degree murder, child abuse resulting in death and domestic violence.

The document says Lesyshen confessed to a deputy at Denver Health where she's being treated for a gunshot wound.

The document says Lesyshen told the deputy she shot herself and that she knows her son, Asher Lesyshen-Kirlan, is dead. Asher was shot in his bedroom, three times in the chest, once in the head and leg. The document suggests the all five shots were done at close range, presumably when he was sleeping.

An arrest warrant affidavit says Lesyshen's husband, Michael Kirlan, woke up to gunshots and called 911 early Wednesday to report Asher had been shot in their Routt County home and that his wife had a gun and was telling him to kill her.

When deputies arrived, they found the boy dead and Lesyshen unconscious with a gunshot wound.

Police interviews reveal that Lisa Leyshan and her husband were living in separate bedrooms in their home near Steamboat Springs. They were married, but separated.

The police paperwork describes a note that Leyshan left for Asher's dad on the night stand by the child's bed. It read, "Remember you are responsible for what has happened here and you are the person that caused it." She signed it, Lisa and Asher.
