KUSA - She's got a face that makes you smile, but a story that just might break your heart.
Snowflake is less than a year old, but she can't run and play like a normal pup.
Snowflake was hit by a car and suffered a fractured spine in the Grand Bahamas.
Once her owners realized the medical and long-term expenses of taking care of her, they were forced to surrender her.
The shelter in the Bahamas was faced with a difficult decision after Snowflake had been there for about two months. She was placed on the list to be euthanized due to her severe disability and extensive medical costs.
Minutes before she was supposed to be put down, the staff at the shelter decided to give her a second chance and was able to contact the Evergreen Animal Protective League to make it happen.
Snowflake hardly misses a beat and isn't in pain. However, she will need special care and visits to neurologists and orthopedic specialists to help her get around more comfortably.
For now, she's found a great foster home in Colorado with a family of other pets with special needs, Kandu and Noella.
Eventually, Snowflake will need to find a forever home. If you think you are the right family for Snowflake, or if you can help with her medical costs, visithttp://www.eapl.com/
