AURORA - Hundreds of Colorado residents braced the cold with a plunge in the Aurora Reservoir for a Special Olympics Colorado fundraiser.
The event was part of the Special Olympics Colorado's annual fundraising campaign.
Today's plunge was the last of five plunges in the Polar Plunge series and raised more than $90,000.
The Aurora Police Department's team "Freeze Right There!" has 30 members and raised more than $5,800.
"I have a brother who has special needs and it's a wonderful organization that does so much for these kids," Polar Plunge participant Jessica Boisseaux said.
"It really increases their quality of life."
Special Olympics provides year-round training and competitions in 22 sports for more than 14,000 athletes.
The Polar Plunge series has raised the organization more than $200,000.
