BOULDER - Sarah Heath says her $5,000 custom-built bike was stolen off the balcony of her apartment, and she says she spotted her parts on Craigslist the next week.
Because the bike is roughly five years old, and the parts are unique, Heath says she is 100 percent sure the parts are stolen—and belong to her.
"It makes me sick to my stomach to think about it," said Heath. The bike was locked up on the porch, as well.
"This guy obviously hopped the fence, in the middle of the night with someone else and was really stealthy about it and cut the lock, and got away with it," she added.
Heath spotted photos of different parts of her bike on Craigslist. She filed a police report, but because none of those parts had serial numbers she says police weren't able to do much.
"Only my frame had a serial number that was recorded," said Heath.
The frame isn't online – yet, says Heath. She thinks the person who stole her bike might wait awhile to do that.
9News called the number listed on craigslist twice on Sunday for the person who is selling the parts, but didn't get return calls.
Heath says she is keeping her bikes inside from now on. She has a U-lock that she uses when she parks at school or in town, but she was using a coil lock on the porch.
