AURORA - A 17-year-old boy was killed on impact by a driver suspected of running a red light at an excess of 80 mph, according to Aurora Police.
The boy killed was identified as Juan Carlos Dominguez-Palomino of Aurora.
Police say the teen was driving a Chevrolet Camaro south on Dayton Street when the driver of a Ford Expedition, headed east on Colfax Avenue, ran a red light and the two vehicles collided around 12:15 a.m. Monday.
Police say the driver of the Expedition was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. He will not be arrested or charged until he leaves the hospital. The driver could be facing charges in
cluding vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and habitual traffic violations .
Colfax Avenue was closed between Dallas and Florence Streets for several hours.
The cause of the crash in under investigation.
