KUSA - Weld County prosecutor and Tea Party favorite Ken Buck won the Republican primary election for Colorado's 4th Congressional District Tuesday night.

Eastern Colorado and parts of Denver's southern suburbs are part of the district.

Early Tuesday night 9NEWS political analyst Floyd Ciruli called Buck as the winner.

Buck was challenged by outgoing state Sen. Scott Renfroe, Weld County Commissioner Barbara Kirkmeyer, and former Cranston, Rhode Island Mayor Steve Laffey,

Buck lost the U.S. Senate seat in 2010 against Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet.
