KUSA - Dozens of American students are safely back in Colorado after getting caught in the Middle East turmoil during a trip to Israel.
They returned to Denver International Airport Sunday and into the arms of their families.
The annual five-week trip is a chance to study the country, past and present, but as rockets were fired between Israel and Gaza, plans changed dramatically.
The group was rerouted miles off course to avoid the violence. That is how the director was able to keep the teenagers away from the most dangerous zones.
