LITTLETON - A man walking around Blue Heron Lake Park in Littleton found a suspicious device. Instead of alerting police immediately, he picked up the device and brought it home with him.

He set it on his driveway in the 10700 block of West Berry Place in Jefferson County and called police around 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

West Metro Fire and Jefferson County Sheriff's Department bomb squad went to the scene to investigate the suspicious device.

Jefferson County deputies went door-to-door and evacuated 12 residences in that square block. Police have since lifted the evacuations, but are still checking the neighborhood.

The suspicious device was a "plastic bottle device" the bomb squad safely detonated.
