WESTMINSTER - Prosecutors have charged a woman accused of killing her husband by running him over with her car after an argument in Westminster.

Police say Nancy Jo Arias, 38, ran over Phillip Lobato, 38, because the victim struck Arias in the face several times during an argument the couple had inside a car just after midnight Monday.

The incident took place at 2735 W. 72nd Avenue in Westminster. Arias was arrested by Westminster police at the scene.

Court documents reveal the couple were arguing over allegations that Lobato was cheating.

According the arrest affidavit, Arias told police "it was in the heat of the moment." Lobato was telling her "how well another woman treats him" during their argument in the car.

Arias told police when they first got to the scene, "you might as well take me now. I ran him over."

When police told Arias her husband had died, she fell to the ground and cried.

"I shouldn't have done that. It was a reaction, Oh Nancy," Arias cried.

Court records said Arias had a bloody nose and lips. Police said an officer could smell "the odor of unknown alcoholic beverage coming from Nancy's person and on her breath." Police say Arias failed roadside maneuvers.

Arias told police she'd been with the victim since they were 14 years old. Lobato had been to prison, she told police.

She will be advised of the charges at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
