KUSA – The woman who lost her legs after spending a week in a car with no food or water got two tattoos Thursday to symbolize the ones she had on her feet.

One is a four-leaf clover with the names of Kristin Hopkins' children. The other is of her favorite band, Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers.

"I tried to explain to my mom: 'I can't get my feet back, but I can get my tattoos back,'" Hopkins said.

Hopkins said since getting her new legs in late June, she's able to walk without a cane. Aside from some bone bruises, she says her recovery is going well.
