KUSA - Some of the hardest hit neighborhoods in the September 2013 floods are about to get a facelift.

The Colorado Division of Housing recently granted the Colorado chapter of Habitat for Humanity with $4 million to build 35 brand new homes across the state.

Many of the new homes will be built in Boulder, Weld and Larimer counties.

In Larimer County, 338 homes were significantly damaged in last years floods. Of those, 47 were destroyed, and nine were demolished.

In unincorporated Boulder County, 1,289 homes were damaged in the floods and 219 homes were destroyed.

Counties are currently remapping and re-zoning neighborhoods that were ripped up last fall, so many homes won't be built in the same spot where they originated.

Neighbors who lost their homes in September 2013's floods can apply to Habitat for Humanity for a new home.

If you live in Larimer County, visit www.lovelandhabitat.org for a new home application. Habitat says in order to apply for a new home, you have to meet specific qualifications: you must have lived and worked in Larimer County for at least a year, you have to show proof that your home was destroyed in the September floods and you must volunteer 100 hours with habitat for humanity. Other requirements are listed on the application.

If people have reconstruction needs in Boulder County, they should call the Long Term Flood Recovery Group at 303-422-2178 to schedule an intake with a disaster case manager. They can also submit a form at: http://bocofloodrecovery.org/get-help/.

The Larimer Long Term Recovery Group also helps those who need it. Contact them at www.larimerLTRG.org.The website is also a great resource for Larimer County flood survivors to get the latest news.

Habitat for Humanity isn't the only group helping rebuild neighborhoods. Hundreds of volunteers, recovery groups and churches have come to Colorado over the past 10 months to help in the restoration process.
