COLORADO SPRINGS – An effort to recall embattled El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa ended Saturday after a petition failed to garner the necessary 44,387 signatures needed to get it on the November ballot.
Maketa is accused of having affairs with three female subordinates, promoting them and then lying about it. In addition, Maketa has also been accused of discrimination, budget improprieties and creating a hostile work environment, according to the Associated Press.

Since Maketa's term ends in January, any additional efforts to recall the sheriff violate Colorado law.
