KUSA - Penn Beldock, 13, has had music in her blood since she barely could walk.
Ironically, the first song she ever wrote won first place in the first songwriting contest she ever entered.
It's about her neighborhood: Denver's Historic Five Points. It is a song about the contrast between old and new.
The old neighborhood, Five Points, is in transition, going through a renaissance.
There is a contrast to her old Victorian house and the young girl that lives inside. She composes and practices her music in her renovated attic.
Her mom (and manager) is busy booking gigs all across town for her two person band called "Hello Denver."
She has performed at places like the Walnut Room and Tony P's.
9NEWS reporter Vida Urbonas and Photojournalist Matt Michela followed Beldock as she sang before a young crowd at Children's Hospital in Aurora.
