DENVER - Cheyenne Mountain was able to outlast Thompson Valley in double overtime Saturday night, as the Indians beat the Eagles 84-81 to advance to the school's first Final Four.
Ghassan Nehme was unstoppable for the Indians, scoring 41 points on the night, 21 of which came from behind the arc and none were more important than his last.
With under 30 seconds remaining in the game and Cheyenne Mountain trailing by three, Nehme launched a 3-pointer that just missed, but Cody McCurry hauled in the rebound and kicked it back out to Nehme who chucked up another as he got fouled and swooshed it with 20 seconds remaining. He would go on to convert the four-point-play to give the Indians the lead and secure the win.
Christian Nehme, Ghassan's brother, also contributed 20 points on the night.
With the win, Cheyenne Mountain advances to the Final Four where they will face Denver South Friday night.
