AURORA - Grandview and Cherokee Trail debuted the inaugural Predators Cup Wednesday night and it was the Wolves who walked away with the hardware and bragging rights after beating the Cougars 13-10.
Grandview jumped out to a 4-1 lead early in the first quarter, but Cherokee Trail slowly fought their way back and tied the game at five with just under six minutes to play in the second quarter. The Wolves scored two quick goals in the next minute and took a 7-5 lead into the half.
Cherokee Trail always remained within striking distance, but could never get any closer than two goals in the second half.
The Wolves celebrated after the game when their captains were presented the Predators Cup and the team took in their first win over the Cougars in five years.
Grandview (2-3) will host Ponderosa next on Friday at 8 p.m. and Cherokee Trail (3-1) will host Bountiful Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
