Austin Conway had to pick a sport before choosing a college.
The Overland junior is one of the best quarterbacks in the state of Colorado and also one of the best point guards. He's being heavily recruited in both sports.
"About 100 piece of mail come to the house a week. It's ridiculous, but it's the ultimate blessing," Conway told 9NEWS.
In the end, football schools wanted Conway as a wide receiver or athlete, not as a quarterback. That made the decision to play college basketball an easier one.
"Being a quarterback on the basketball court is being a point guard so I am playing quarterback just a different sport," said Conway.
He's turning down PAC 12, SEC and BIG Ten options in football, a decision that even surprises him a bit.
"Walking in to Overland I had my heart set on getting a football scholarship and now here I am with the same opportunities in football and basketball and having to break my heart putting football down. Man I never thought I'd be here," said Conway.
"You say 'break you heart' but you're excited about college basketball right," I asked him.
"Ya! I love basketball too," replied Conway. "Football is my first love, it's the one you can't get over. I'm not heart broken about having to play basketball, it's a bittersweet taste."
Conway already has basketball interest from Indiana, Wyoming and Montana State. He expects that list to grow this summer and hopes to make a decision by August or September.
