KUSA - Talk about home court advantage: the #1 seeded women's and men's University of Denver tennis teams will host The Summit League Championships this weekend (April 25-27) at Gates Tennis Center in Denver.

"We are thrilled to be hosting the Summit League Tournament at the Gates Tennis Center," head men's tennis coach Danny Westerman said. "This is the best tennis in the state and we would love to have the support of the entire community. We are hoping to capture our second consecutive conference title and the fans can help create a great home court atmosphere to help get us over the top."

"We're really looking forward to another great weekend in front of a home crowd," assistant women's tennis coach David Loewenthal said. "We're hungry to win this championship and feel confident going into these matches. Women's first round matches open the tournament at 10 a.m., MT, on Friday before the men get underway at 2 p.m., MT.

Friday's women's quarterfinals feature No. 3 seed Fort Wayne against No. 6 Western Illinois and No. 4 seed South Dakota vs. No. 5 IUPUI. Saturday's semifinals pit regular season champion and top-seeded Denver, ranked No. 69 in the latest ITA rankings, against the South Dakota-IUPUI winner and No. 2 seed South Dakota State vs. the Fort Wayne-Western Illinois winner. The winners of Saturday's matches will meet Sunday at 10 a.m., MT, for the women's championship and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Men's quarterfinal play begins Friday with No. 4 seed IUPUI against No. 5 seed Western Illinois. The winner of that match moves on to meet regular season champion and top-seed Denver in Saturday's semifinal. The other semifinal pits No. 2 Fort Wayne against No. 3 South Dakota State. Saturday's winners meet Sunday at 1 p.m., MT, for the men's championship and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
