Emmanuel Sanders had hoped the Broncos would seek to sign him. He repeatedly asked his agent if they had called – and then they finally did.

"To play with Peyton Manning is like wide receiver heaven. I feel like he's one of the greatest quarterbacks to play the game," Sanders said of the easy decision to join one of the most prolific offenses in National Football League history. He conceded that he tries to model his diligent preparation after the Broncos quarterback.

"I know that he's going to make me a better player whether it's mentally and physically. I know that I'm in a great environment," he continued.

Sanders spent all four seasons in professional football with Pittsburgh where he was used in a variety of ways. He caught just 67 passes for 740 yards and 6 touchdowns a year ago.

Vice President and general manager John Elway brought Sanders in because he thinks he can compliment Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker and Julius Thomas. He complimented the new wide receiver on his ability to cause missed tackled – an odd stat that he ranks 4th in the NFL last season and simply proves his evasive abilities.

While Sanders admitted that he does anticipate a jump in all his receiving statistics in the Broncos high-powered offense he won't be obsessed with them.

"I don't really concern myself with the stats too much. I'm really trying to look in terms of the win-loss column. I feel like this organization, run by Coach John Fox and John Elway, I feel like they just want to win," he said. "That's what I want to do, too. I just want to win."

Much like everyone else, Sanders has watched the Broncos stack their defense in free agency. He was enticed to be a part of a team that seems so committed to make the steps to try to win a championship.

Sanders was injured in his lone Super Bowl appearance – he broke his foot in 2010 as a member of the Steelers and yet watching the confetti fall and the Packers celebrate was just as painful. The wide receiver has been motivated to get back ever since.
