KUSA- John Fox is in the last year of his contract to coach the Denver Broncos. For weeks he and the Broncos have been in contract extension discussions but haven't been able to come to an agreement.
"I'm under contract. I enjoy coaching here. People do that other than me. They are working on it, talking about it and we'll see where it goes," Fox told reporters at the NFL owners meetings in Orlando.
Back in February at the NFL Scouting Combine, John Elway told 9NEWS reporter Rod Mackey "We'll start doing that this weekend, we'd like to get John extended but we'll see what we could do."
With or without an extension one thing is certain, John Fox will approach his job the same way he always has.
"Really, I'm going to coach my rear end off no matter what happens. That's in people's hands and I feel confident something will happen. Either way, I'm going to be fine. I'm under contract."
Fox's situation was referred to as a "lame duck" coach by a reporter, but Fox sees it differently.
"See, I don't use that word. I call it free agency. Players deal with it all the time. I deal with players all the time. It's the same thing, actually. So, I prefer to look at it differently," Fox said Tuesday morning.
Fox said that he's worked through a one-year extension before and "it is what it is."
