The NFL competition committee is in Orlando but they're still worried about snow.
At the annual meetings that discusses rule changes and other topics surrounding the league, they pushed off the debate on the prospect of having another Super Bowl in a cold-weather setting. The group tabled the idea until May – and talk surrounding the gathering wasn't overly positive.
"They are looking at what are the competitive ramifications of a Super Bowl played outside in bad weather – in inclement weather," Broncos President Joe Ellis said. The City of Denver has applied to bid on becoming a host of the Super Bowl in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
"I think there is some concern in compromising the competitive integrity of the game is a real risk," he continued.
The NFL had a contingency plan for the game in Ne Jersey – which garnered the first opportunity to host the Super Bowl in a cold-weather site. They avoided a major snow storm by a day and could now affect the possibility of Denver hosting it in the coming years.
