KUSA - The Broncos made the requisite moves up the board to be able draft Cody Latimer.
Denver selected the former Indiana wide receiver with the 56th pick in the second round of the National Football League draft Friday. They made the deal with the San Francisco 49ers, swapping 2nd round picks as well as giving up a 5th round selection this year and a 4th round pick next year. The Broncos got a 7th rounder this draft too.
"It was a shock, but it was a great shock. It'll be awesome to play in one of the most record setting offenses," he said.
Latimer caught 72 passes for 1,096 yards and nine touchdowns in his final year with the Hoosiers.
The wide receiver had patiently waited for his named to be called in the green room in Radio City Music Hall in New York City all day Thursday and some time Friday. He remained positive through it all in anticipation of his name getting called.
"I had the attitude, I'm going to get picked where I'm going to get picked and I'm going to be happy," Latimer continued over a conference call. "It was a long wait, but it was well worth the wait."
