KUSA - Commissioner Goodell surely doesn't whisper sweet nothings in the ears of all the NFL first round picks. He says only 'congratulations,' and - in the rare case with Bradley Roby - has high praise for snazzy attire.
"He told me not to tell people, but I'm going to tell people that I was one of the best dressed that he saw this year," the Broncos first round pick confided.
Roby's silver suit certainly made an impression, but the bow tie sealed the spotlight. It was actually the first time the former Ohio State cornerback, who was selected 31st overall, wore such a flamboyant accent with a suit. This dapper flare worked exactly as he had planned.
"That was my goal to be the snappiest guy at the draft and I think I accomplished that," Roby continued. "He gave me compliments on that and just welcomed me into the league."
He had stiff competition at Radio City Music Hall but it won't compare to what he's going to face once he puts on the pads.
He stylishly scored the endorsement from the commissioner and now he's ready to get to work with the Broncos. The rookies began their regiment Monday and will finally take the field on Friday. That's where he hopes to check-off his second objective as a professional.
"Just have a good first day of practice. I just cannot wait to play," said Roby. "This whole process has been so long that I just want to get back on the field. That would be another goal for me."
As for the long term aspirations, he wants to win and also possibly add another polished accessory to his wardrobe - like a ring.
