KUSA - Lightning delays have become a big annoyance for Broncos fans during the preseason, and there is a chance for an early thunderstorm in the Saturday night match up with the Texans, according to the Colorado weather forecast.

With a sunny start to the weekend, the heat of the day will boil up a few storms late in the day Saturday. Current forecasts show storms forming over the Denver area between 3 and 6 p.m. Saturday.

The 9NEWS Weather Team thinks that the storms will be unstable enough to produce some lighting, which would be cause for a delay. Right now, the timing of the storms has them moving east of Sports Authority Field at Mile High before the 7 p.m. kickoff, but they could be around during the pregame activities.

We'll be updating the forecast several times before the beginning of the game to have the latest information about the latest timing and location of the storms Saturday afternoon and evening.
