KUSA-The Broncos made their first round of roster cuts Sunday afternoon, trimming the team from 88 to 77 players. Denver will need to make two more cuts by 2 p.m. on Tuesday, in order to reach the league-mandated limit of 75 players.

The next step with the regular season approaching will be a second wave of cuts to get the roster down to 53 players after Thursday's game against the Cowboys. The 53-man roster must be finalized on Aug. 30.

Both former CSU standouts and rookie free agents Kapri Bibbs and Shaquil Barrett remain on the active roster -- at least for now.

The NFL has increased the number of players a team can carry on their practice squad from eight to 10 players this season, which means the Broncos will have an additional two spots to fill. However, players must clear waivers before they can be added to a team's practice squad.
