KUSA - Paul Stastny has only known the Avalanche, but the next time the free agent steps on the ice for an NHL game, it could be in a different sweater.

As an unrestricted free agent Stastny can start listening to offers starting on June 25th, but Colorado is still hoping to keep the Center in Colorado.

"We're going to talk next week," said Avalanche Vice President Joe Sakic. "He has the right to do that and see what's out there for him, but we're hopeful that we can keep Paul here."

Patrick Roy, like Sakic, talked about keeping the core players here. They also talked about trying to come to terms on a long term deal with Ryan O'Reilly, but both deals have to make sense.

"It was our right, part of the CBA window that we had to file for an arbitration hearing," Sakic continued. "I talked to Pat Morris a couple times and told him that if we didn't have an agreement that was what we were planning on doing," Sakic said. "We're still trying to sign Ryan. Ryan is part of our core, he's a tremendous hockey player that we want to have here. We're hopeful we can accomplish that, but we have our structure and he falls right in with the rest of our core. We're hopeful it'll work out, but if it doesn't we know we'll have an arbitrator tell us what he'll make."

Sakic also confirmed that Denver will not host an outdoor NHL game this season, but is hopeful they can do it the following season.
