KUSA - It is wheeling and dealing time in the NHL, and the Avalanche are far from exempt.

The Avs were unable to hold on to longtime center Paul Stastny, who the St. Louis Blues have signed to a four-year deal.

The Blues announced the deal via Twitter Tuesday morning and according to numerous sources, Stastny will be very well paid: to the tune of $28 million.

Stastny grew up in the St. Louis area and is the third Stastny to play for the Blues. His father, Peter, and brother Yan both wore a Blues sweater . The Blues were quick to tweet about the 28-year-old coming home.

After a stellar career at DU, Stastny was drafted by the Avalanche and had a stellar record with 458 points in 538 games and two Olympic appearances. Last season, he had 25 goals and 60 points -- along with five goals and 10 points in seven playoff games.
