KUSA - Olympian Arielle Gold, who hails from Steamboat Springs, has her eyes set on South Korea in 2018.

The 18-year-old snowboarder graduates from high school in May. Insight School of Colorado, a public online school, helped by allowing her the flexibility to balance her studies and training.

Gold suffered a dislocated shoulder during the Olympic qualification runs in Sochi when she crashed on the halfpipe. She wasn't able to compete. The teenager has been ranked second in the world. Last season, she had six podium finishes and got gold at the World Championships.

Her future looks bright. The World Snowboard Tour calls her "the new shooting star in the female halfpipe snowboarding world." Two years ago, Sports Illustrated already had labeled her a "future game changer." Her brother Taylor is also on the U.S. Snowboard team.

When she's not competing or training, she focuses her energy on her charity, the Animal Rescue of the Rockies. She spent the weekend at the Colfax Marathon to help promote her charity.
