KUSA - Breckenridge broke ground on its 543 acres of new land for the Peak 6 area, the resort announced Wednesday.
The new terrain will have a new high speed 6-person chairlift. It's also expected to offer new views and relief from the long lift lines at Peak 8.
The company expects to open Peak 6 for the 2013-2014 ski season. However, there will be no snow making, so opening day is weather dependent. It is expected to be around November.
According to a press release, Peak 6 will now give Breckenridge five huge peaks with 2,901 acres, four terrain parks and a world-class ski school. It will also have the highest chairlift in North America.
