KUSA - The Colorado Rapids added two players to their roster Wednesday, signing goalkeeper Joe Nasco and midfielder Jared Watts.
Nasco, 29, played last season for the Atlanta Silverbacks in the 10-team North American Soccer League and had four shutouts.
Watts, 22, just finished four seasons at Wake Forest as a defensive midfielder. He had five goals and 10 assists at Wake Forest. Watts was captain of the U.S. under-17 World Cup team in 2009 and played on the U20 national team.
"We're glad to add depth to our squad with these two signings, and look forward to their contributions to our club," Rapids technical director Paul Bravo said in a news release. "Joe is a strong goalkeeper who demonstrated that he can play at a high level, and Jared is a technical defensive midfielder who plays the game very intelligently. We're pleased to add both players to our roster."
Also Wednesday, the Rapids traded midfielder Hendry Thomas to Dallas FC for allocation money.
Colorado continues its preseason training camp, moving Wednesday to Las Vegas for two games before going to Tucson, Ariz., next week.
The Rapids open the regular season March 15 at New York with the home opener March 22 against Portland.
