A brilliant early goal by Deshorn Brown was a misleading sign of things to come as FC Dallas beat the Colorado Rapids 3-2 Saturday night, snapping the Rapids three-game point streak.

After scoring two goals in his last start against Houston, Brown converted another early chance in the 25th minute. The Rapids forward used the side of his foot to softly flick a loose ball over goalkeeper Raul Fernandez.

"Drew (Moor) headed it down," said Brown. "I saw the defender marking me kind of asleep so I stepped forward and I saw the goalkeeper (Fernandez) coming across so the first thing in my mind was just to flick it back post and it just happened to go in the goal."

Despite struggling with Brown's pace most of the night, Dallas was able to take advantage of scoring chances in the second half. With the score tied 2-2, Fabian Castillo stole the ball in the Rapids' end and dibbled his way towards the goal. After eluding two sliding tackles outside the penalty area, Castillo picked his spot and hammered a shot past goalkeeper Clint Irwin into the top right corner.

Head coach Pablo Mastroeni said he was happy with his team's form for most of the game, but lost the game during a momentary lapse in defense.

"Obviously, scoring the first goal helps," said Mastroeni. "Guys came out in the second half and really put their best foot forward, and got stung on another counter. We controlled the game, found ways to get forward, and found ways to get shots on goal."

The game also represented the first time Colorado faced former head coach Oscar Pareja. During the off-season, it was Pareja who negotiated his way out of the Rapids' plans, and into a deal to make him the next head coach in Dallas. Pareja had previously served as an assistant in Dallas for seven seasons before taking over in Colorado.

The Rapids now get a ten day break between games, with their next match schedule for June 17th against Orlando S.C. at DSG Park (7:00pm). The game marks the first for the Rapids in this year's U.S. Open Cup.
