DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - The market for professional service robots is growing quickly, and will grow even more quickly after 2020.
That's according to a new report by IHS Markit, which indicated that 20,000 professional service robots were shipped last year, but the market is exploding.
"The emerging market for professional service robots is forecast to increase very quickly, with a unit-shipment compound annual growth rate of 46 percent, from 2015 to 2020. ... After 2020, the global market for professional service robot markets will grow even faster, with more robots moving from prototype to commercialization in various applications," IHS Markit said in a statement.
What industries will be taken over first by robots? IHS Markit said agriculture has seen robots used in processes like seeding, planting, harvesting, pruning, weeding, picking, sorting, spraying and materials handling.
