1 killed, 1 injured in crash in East Aurora Friday

AURORA - East Colfax Avenue was closed in both directions between E-470 and Powhatan Road,, early Friday morning, due to a deadly crash involving two vehicles, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The front-ends of both vehicles, a 2000 GMC van and a 2003 Honda Civic, sustained substantial damage in the crash, which occurred a little before 4:45 a.m.

Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis said the driver of the Civic died and the driver of the van was injured and taken to University of Colorado Hospital.

Trooper Lewis did not have information about the GMC driver's injuries, nor any other information about either driver, such as age and gender.

The identity of the deceased victim will be released after the victim's family has been notified.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Colfax, between Powhatan and E-470 remained closed as investigators determined the cause of the crash.

The road re-opened around 10:15 a.m.
