Expect big(ger) delays on Speer starting Tuesday

Crews are shutting down lanes on Speer between 8th and 12th while they fix the 11th Avenue bridge.

DENVER - Getting down Speer Boulevard at rush hour could become even slower.

Starting at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Denver Public Works says crews will close a lane on both northbound and southbound Speer from 8th to 12th Avenues for repairs to the 11th Avenue bridge.

More lane closures could be put in place during non-peak travel times.

Another thing to keep in mind? The closures are expected to last until May 5 -- and the bike path will also be closed in the area. Signs will direct drivers to the appropriate detour.

Public Works recommends taking alternative routes during the closure.

“The public’s patience and cooperation during construction is greatly appreciated,” a news release from Denver Public Works read.
